Announcing Insider build 16.0.6868.2067 for Office 2016 on Windows desktop

On 5/19/16, we released build 16.0.6868.2067 to our Office Insider audience. To get the update, click File > Account (or Office Account in Outlook) > Update Options > Update Now.

While this update doesn't have new features, it does contain some significant fixes (and one known issue.) To those of you who are actively reporting these and other issues on Twitter or here in the forum, or by clicking File > Feedback, thank you!

What's fixed in Insider build 16.0.6868.2067

Outlook
•Fixes an issue where the link to view older mail messages on the server doesn’t appear at the bottom of the list of messages in the folder, such as the Inbox or Deleted Items folder. (Special thanks to Martin K for reporting this issue.)
•Fixes an issue where Outlook doesn’t send the message content when sending mail using a .msg file.
•Updates the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) so that it can detect and correct file corruption issues related to how .pst files are indexed and searched. This type of corruption can prevent .pst files from loading, cause Outlook to crash, or cause high CPU utilization.

Word
•Fixes an issue where if you perform an undo action after moving a SmartArt graphic by dragging, Word crashes or the SmartArt graphic becomes blank and can’t be selected.

PowerPoint
•Fixes an issue where if PowerPoint has restarted after a crash and you’re using the Document Recovery task pane, you get an error message when you try to save the recovered file or open the original file.
•Fixes an issue where PowerPoint crashes when trying to save a recovery file that was created from a previous PowerPoint crash.
•Fixes an issue where if you have a presentation that includes a table, and then save the presentation as a PDF, PowerPoint crashes.
•Fixes an issue where numbers and spaces are lost when saving a presentation in .rtf format or copying text into a rich-text editor, such as WordPad.

Office suite
•Fixes an issue in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint where setting the pen thickness for inking causes the app to crash.
•Fixes an issue where the Document Recovery task pane doesn’t appear the next time you open the Office app after it has crashed, especially if you re-open the app right after it crashed.

Known issue in Word Insider build 16.0.6868.2067

We'd like to make you aware of a crash that happens when you export certain files to PDF. Rest assured, the fix for this will be going out soon.

If you do the following, Word will crash:
1.Open a file in a format other than DOCX or DOC, such as a PDF, RTF, or TXT file, and then edit the file.
2.Click File > Export > Create PDF/XPS.

To avoid this issue, follow these steps:
1.Click File > Save As.
2.In the file type list, click PDF (.pdf).
3.Click Save.

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

The Office Insider Team

Hi there

This version also available for RTM via standard office update (i.e non insider but standard W10 builds).

I have this on TWO computers -- one I noticed Black Theme is missing whereas it's fine on the other one !!!!!

The only difference was I did the update while I had Outlook 2016 open - it asked to close before final update - Black theme still there -- on other machine I had EXCEL open with GREY theme -- after update BLACK no longer in the options box.

Cheers
jimbo

Sheesh! I thought I had 2067, but I guess it rolled back when I had a problem with Outlook and had to reinstall.

Updating now.
