Microsoft is projected to launch the Windows 10 Anniversary Update this summer, but the company hasn’t provided any other specifics regarding the release date.
And yet, everyone expects the company to take the wraps off the Anniversary Update (also known as the Redstone Update among Microsoft watchers and company employees) in July for two main reasons. Thus, this is the month when Windows 10 turns 1 and the company ends the free upgrade promo, and at the same time, Redmond itself has dropped several hints that this is when it’s likely to happen.
Rumor has it that the final build, often referred to as RTM, could be 1607, and although the company hasn’t yet confirmed this, there are several references in official documents that seem to confirm this is indeed the case.
For example, information regarding the company’s “
Set up School PCs” app, which eases the transition of the educational sector to Windows 10, also
contains a reference to build 1607, hinting that this is indeed the final version of the Anniversary Update
