Microsoft has finally rolled out a new version of the Update Catalog website that makes it possible for users to access it without Internet Explorer, the company’s old browser that was the only one supported on the page.
From now on, pretty much every browser out there, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Edge, should be able to load the Update Catalog and download updates easily.
The most recent cumulative updates released by Microsoft for Windows 10 machines caused quite a lot of issues on these PCs, and in some cases, they even failed to install.
For many users, manually installing these cumulative updates solved the installation issues, and this is why making the Update Catalog available in any browser is so important. It makes it possible for users to download cumulative updates and install them manually should any problem be experienced.
Microsoft Now Allows Google Chrome and Firefox Users Access the Update Catalog
I am personally glad, that I can finally download drivers directly from Microsoft. About time.
Good news and thanks for sharing.
Good news but was probably more about allowing Edge to access the catalogue than any of the third party browsers.
Edge still tells me to use IE, but Firefox works.
Edge works just fine on mine, maybe because I have IE "uninstalled".
You have to use this url :
Don't forget the www!
Hmm, tried it again and it worked. Maybe I had an obsolete link.
Too bad they couldn't revamp the site and make it more searchable and useful. Give me the option to filter by product, date and classification.
Totally agree with that comment OilerNut. Also at the moment MUC is in total disarray, a couple of months ago if you did a search for a particular driver version it would be found. Now you do a search and you get a whole page of drivers which have no relevance to what your search was for, if you're lucky the driver you were after may appear somewhere in the list.
Very disappointing
Nope. I can get to the page but if I try the search or help, I get the attachment below.
Are you running the insider edition?
