How do I disable the useless Edge PDF Reader???

How do I disable the Edge PDF Reader? - the one the opens a PDF file in a window that gives the user no option to enlarge or reduce or print or open with the Adobe reader, thus rendering it useless. All you get is a Save As option. I would like instead for it in invoke Adobe Reader.

I do not have this issue in IE 11 or in Chrome. I have already associated PDF extension with the Adobe Reader in File Explorer, but Edge still opens up the file in its useless no-option window.

Is there any way to disable it and have Adobe Reader present the file instead?

Adobe Reader XI .. Never heard of "DC". I gather its the replacement ( odd that I never got an update notification). I will install it now...

Yes, newer version for Windows 10, but a free edition as was not sure if you are paying or using free edition. Works good for me in Windows 10, no more Edge opening it. Posted the linK in # 3 here for DC

I now have DC loaded, and same issue... Edge is still taking over. How can I defeat this useless Edge reader??

I will try to look for some option in Adobe.

Hmm, now I am really confused. The Adobe DC Preference options seem to imply it cant be done ( yet oterh don't have an issue) :

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Windows 10 will ship with two browsers - Internet Explorer 11 and the new Edge browser.

The Edge browser will be the default browser and Internet Explorer 11 will be available to support legacy workflows. The new Edge browser will not have any support for ActiveX plug-ins. Therefore, Acrobat/Reader plug-in won't work with Edge. For more information, see Change in support for Acrobat and Reader plug-ins in modern web browsers.

Use Internet Explorer 11 to open PDFs. To enable the Acrobat/Reader plug-in in Internet Explorer, see the steps in the previous section.

Strange, i did nothing, just installed Adobe Acrobat DC and it took over, check Default program Settings in Control panel. Right click PDF file select Properties and Change it. Should not keep older version of Adobe also if you did.

Great tip re the defaults... but no joy.

Under Edge defaults in Control Panel/Defaults/Associations, it clearly shows Adobe as the default for PDF and Edge as the default for the other extensions/protocols. And the Adobe default is also set.

Adobe XI is already deleted.

I have already rebooted.

So I am a bit stumped that :

1) Edge is still forcing itself as the default reader.

2) Microsoft makes it so difficult (and perhaps impossible on some systems) to change.

3) Microsoft puts out such an absolutely awful reader in Edge. I literally cannot read any documents its too damn small. And even the triple dot browser zoom id disabled. They really botched this big time. Not really surprised.

Currently out of options ....

Wait... if "Microsoft Windows 10 will ship with two browsers - Internet Explorer 11 and the new Edge browser." .. are they implying that PDF files can be set to open in IE 11 ???? .. or are they just saying it ships with two browsers.
