How to connect gmail to outlook in windows 10?

I have been working for hours to try and figure out how to link my gmail account to outlook in windows 10, everything looks correct, username, password, 2 step verification turned off on gmails end, pop mail enabled on gmails end and yet all I get time after time is incorrect login and password identification.

Even weirder, is on on occasion it will actually connect the gmail account to outlook in windows 10 but I can only send messages from gmail and not receive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of Outlook are you talking about?
Office - Outlook 2013
App - Mail Store App

Also why did you turn off 2 step verification and have POP protocol enabled.

I have 2 step verification enabled and POP3 disabled while IMAP is enabled. For the Office outlook, you just make an app password in the security tab of your Google Account.
Get started with IMAP and POP3 - Gmail Help

For the Mail store app, you input your login stuff and it will automatically prompt you for the 2 factor code then it will tell you to accept permissions for windows to access your Google account. Bam you set.

thanks for the reply but Huh?

I thought this was a windows 10 forum, I am talking about outlook.com that was released with windows 10 on July 31st.

It will only accept pop3 email accounts, does not require an app password and so on and so on.

I asks me to turn off 2 step verification, select pop3, etc, which I did, every time it refuses to accept my login and password, along with the edge browser not supporting extensions such as ad blockers and password remembers like last pass, windows 10 as a whole is useless, quite sad.

outlook.com was not released with windows 10

Outlook.com was released on 18 February 2013

Windows 10 released the Outlook store app. Are you talking about the app that came with the OS or the website?

ok, my mistake, thought outlook.com was a new app with windows 10, guess not.

I guess I am talking about the website, not sure what the app is, anyways, it appears I can only forward my gmail there and then send from outlook, which is now working the way, still not sure if outlook.com is receiving new gmail mails, if it is, there appears to be a huge lag between the two.

outlook.com out of windows 10 just won't allow two way pop3 mail.

well, you could set your email like that but I mostly use clients from apps or desktop Outlook 2013. I usually find the web clients for mail disappointing and not looking good.

You could try out the brand new Outlook Store App.
Your request appears to be from an automated process

And add your mail accounts, and try that.

I agree edge is lacking features but I install Firefox and Chrome. I been mostly using edge to test it as my main browser. So far it is good but I really don't like it is not optimized for touch, full screen mode does not exist. I knew extension are coming in the fall but why not full screen mode.

Otherwise Windows 10 has been good.

gave up on outlook.com, brought up the newish mail app in windows 10 and was able to connect to my gmail account right away.

Is there a way to turn off the reading pane in the mail app?
