Streange message in "Get Windows 10" on Dell tablet

Hi all.

I went to go upgrade my Dell Venue 8 Pro 3000, and just to check compatability, I opened the "Get Windows 10" thing. I saw this message:

Here are the specs:

Disk space:

I'm assuming the message is referring to the ability to downgrade back to Windows 8.1. Due to the small eMMC storage in the tablet, "Get Windows 10" is telling me I won't be able to downgrade back to W8.1. Is this true? Or is it actually telling me that I won't be able to reset the tablet back to factory settings?

Thanks

I assume it is telling you that you won't be able to roll back as there is no space for a backup of your current OS.

I'm also thinking that's what it meant. But it's so poorly worded! I just want to be sure before I upgrade.

Personally I would make a complete Image of your current OS and save to a external hard drive and make a repair disk before going any further.

The problem is...

How do I connect an external HD to a tablet, and do you think it's really necessary?

The only way I know of is if your tablet has a USB port. If we think it's necessary, I do but then again, I backup in case something messes up. It's always that one time I don't something does lol.

Ok, thanks... I think I'll take the plunge, anyway... I hope I can still reset the tablet to factory settings. If not, then oh well.

I would probably leave it as is, if it goes wrong and you can't repair your screwed. I always have a back up every time I install something new I back up, I'm not trying to put you off but it's possible. Everything went great for my upgrade but this forum is full of folks that were not so lucky.

I agree... Thanks

Would an SD card work if the tablet has an SD Card reader? I don't have a lot of experience with imaging so I'm not entirely sure. Technically, the SD card is an external drive and if it is big enough, you should be able to back up the tablet on it.
