Thanks for the post/information.
Jeff

According to this note, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8-8.1 will be offered the update but are not vulnerable but does improve their protection. Looks like only Server OS's are labeled Critical. Windows 10 will also get the update.

[1]Severity ratings do not apply for this operating system because the vulnerability addressed in this bulletin is not present. This update provides additional defense-in-depth hardening that does not fix any known vulnerability.

Jim

Thank you for the information.

Thanks!

Got all the updates for 8.1 but there's nothing for 10.

I've got two updates today. One is optional (KB3000850) of over 700mb size ! The other "important" one was only around 1.5mb as I recall, KB3011780. Haven't installed the big one yet. Had the small one on Vista yesterday.

That optional one just managed to make me problems in Win 8.1.1. No proper shutdown or restart after that and the important one. Tried all usual remedies and nothing helped. Still troubleshooting. Now I'm afraid to try them on 10 even if I get them.

This hasn't come through for me yet.

That doesn't sound good. Would you believe its still not finished. Over an hour to download and install. A long reboot. I then left it for a while and did another restart. Now running a full disk clean and that has been going for nearly an hour now. Disk cleanup in 8.1 is horrific, I dread running it because its so slow, even if there is nothing much to clean.

I noticed this update took some 3.5 gb space and disk clean only found 0.25gb to clean. And an hour later and its still running.

How green is that Microsoft ? All those W8.1 PC's churning away. I bet if you added it all up, an update like this takes the equivalent of taking the full output of several power stations for several hours to complete.
