I recently bought an ASUS a456ur, and had windows 10 anniversary update installed into it. I had this problem: i can't turn off the wifi unless i turn on the airplane mode, and make all the connection turned off, including bluetooth, which i needed to connect to a bluetooth speaker of mine. And also, if i turned on the airplane mode, i can't turn it off by turning on wifi.
i tried to turn off the wifi by various way. i tried to disabling it from the menu popped out when you click the wifi logo from your notification bar, i tried to disabling it from the settings, and tried to disabling it from the actiion center, and none of them is working.
things i have done:
try disabling wifi from ubuntu, and it works,
updating the driver of the network devices
Even with the Function key combo you cannot? Sometimes you have to press Fn and the Function key, if you did not change it to standard Function key operation.
How about going to settings -> airplane mode:
my laptop don't have a wifi function button, unfortunately , only airplane mode function button, which turn on and off the airplane modei can turn the wifi off from there, but somehow it really disturbing to open settings and go to the airplane mode only to turn off the wifi, instead of going to the notification bar.
is there any solution you guys know?
All laptops have a Wifi switch or button to disable that radio. Asus laptops it is Fn+F2. A simple search on Asus's website would give you this information.
it seems that this series don't have that button :/
i pressed it before and went to the airplane mode
Can you not just click the WiFi icon in the System Tray then click on the WiFi tile? That turns off my WiFi independently of the Bluetooth.
That is exactly my problem, i can't turn off wifi from the system tray, unless you turn on the airplane mode
Well, as you've said it can be done from Ubuntu then the hardware is capable, so that suggests the Windows drivers aren't allowing you independent control of WiFi and Bluetooth. What drivers are you using, generic MS ones or the Asus ones? Check the Asus a456ur driver versions here:
i tried that too, the asus ones
