Microsoft to replace the traditional Control Panel with the Windows 10 Settings app | Windows CentralWindows 10 (as well as Windows 8) provides users with two ways to access settings, the traditional Control Panel with access to various functions and tools, as well as the new Modern UI Settings app. The former is the more advanced option, but Microsoft is moving away from the familiar Control Panel in favor of the Settings app.
According to Microsoft's Gabriel Aul, the company plans to replace the Control Panel with the Settings app "in time", slowly migrating across the numerous tools.
Hmmm. . . not sure this is all that important information at this point especially sense it was brought up before, albeit there will be those who think that it will be totally stupid because it will confuse the . . . out of the average user. . .
Well, probably because people keep filing bug reports about having two places for settings. And probably because every review of Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 makes a point of calling it out and talking about how MS can't get its act together.
As long as I can find what I'm looking for it doesn't matter to me.
The article doesn't offer an explanation. What purpose does replacing Control Panel with the Settings app serve?
Centralize all of the settings in one place for all Win10 platforms.
In addition, the Settings app is more touch friendly.
If they are going to do it, why don't they just do it and get it over with?
They've been d******* around with this since W8.
They think that touch is the future and don't really care what the desktop customers think. Just another indication that the traditional desktop user is getting the short end of the stick.
We will be lucky to get a stick much less a short end of one.LOL
