Hi,

I am using Win X Pro. I just noticed that I could not change the desktop background. It says "Some settings are managed by your organisation". I am the only one using this PC and there is no other account. I can change the colours, lock screen and themes.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem when I upgraded from Windows 8.1. I could not change the picture on the lock screen but could change any of the others. My laptop with the upgrade could change all without problems. I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 and that worked for me. I could not find any way to fix it before that
wishing you luck there.

cheers

Hope this helps

Does not work. Tried option 5, nothing is changing. I disabled all sorts of settings under the privacy setting. Maybe that caused it?

Had the same problem - "Some settings are managed by your organisation" but none of the fixes posted here worked.
I found a solution that worked for me :-

Run regedit and navigate to :-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesActiveDesktop]

right click 'NoChangingWallpaper' and change the value to "1"

Click "OK"

I know this is an old post but I recently installed Windows 10 and this problem still exists.

Hello, 'Some settings are managed...' is an unhelpful and obscure choice of message by MS.

Yes, changing privacy settings can easily cause this to appear, and it can be hard to remove.

I suggest:
Try downloading and installing one or if necessary both of these free programs, designed to stop Windows phoning home. The idea though is to use their 'Reset to default' (or similar) options to reset the settings.

O&O shutup
Spybot Anti beacon

I've found this helpful, but it doesn't solve all cases.

Note: strongly recommend enabling System Restore and setting a daily scheduled task to create a restore point.
Also use disk imaging (strongly recommended here) so you can restore yuor PC to a previously working state in a short time without tech. help. E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + boot disk + external storage

Try this.
