I seem to remember changing the display language in Windows 8 (or 8.1, I forget) but I no longer seem to be able to in after upgrading today to Windows 10. (Want to change display language to English)
Versions: Windows 8 Home, Windows 10 Home
If I go into settings and install English (I assume input language), it does not give me the option to further download the Display Language, as I have seen in most tutorials, including the official MS website. Also tried to download the cab from winaero and install using lpksetup but it tells me something along the lines of "unable to install the language pack on this computer"
Is it because its Home, rather than Ultimate etc.? because I was under the impression that the version did not matter after Windows 7.
Is it possible to change the display language?
Hello Cappuccino, and welcome to windowssh blog.
You might see if double checking through the tutorial below may be able to help.
Language - Add, Remove, and Change in Windows 10
Thanks Brink. But the link you provided was one of the first I read through, except for me, I don't see the "Download Language Pack" after going into Options; only Writing (Input?) and Voice (Exact wording might be different in English)
I don't have a Home edition install in a VM yet to test with, but for now please go ahead and post screenshots showing what you see instead for each step to see it that can help spot a reason until I have one setup or someone else help before then.

I don't think I'm doing anything wrong and it's not a very hard instruction to follow. However, when I add a new language, it doesn't say "language pack available" as it should (according to the link) or give me the option to download the language pack. The only thing I can think of is the home vs pro thing, except I think I did have my computer in English once in Win 8 (or 8.1) Home...
I just wanna be able to try Cortana
I have the same problem on my HP Spectre x360 bought in Switzerland. I've tried everything I could, but I cannot simply not use English as a display language, although it was always configured that way in Windows 8.1.
The option to select English as a Display language is simply not available, nor can I use the "download" option (see first screenshot).
Hi there
You have to have at least PRO versions to add more languages or even the display options. HOME PREMIUM etc doesn't allow more than ONE language.
Cheers

Hello,
I am having the exact same problem with Cortana not working. I think this a Microsoft at present. It seems there are a lot of posts about this issue!
Hi, but if it allows ONE language, I could at least select English as my only language... which is not possible, even when removing the other languages. I remove German altogether, it was not listed as an option in my languages, but the display language is still... German.
And as said, I had the Home version for Windows 8.1 and it worked. This they change the policy?
Yep exactly the same. I used to be able to change the display language in Windows 8/8.1, not anymore tho.
