yes... but how???

Hello, I'd like to hide the language bar, as I did with Win7. Currently I have 2 keyboard layouts installed (German, which I use and English) My display language is English, and it seems I cannot remove the English keyboard layout (is it true? suggestions?) Under Win7, when only one layout was installed the Language bar would disappear automatically: any Idea about how to hide it in my case? Thanks for supporting, Marco

I think what you are looking for is under Settings
Notifications and Actions
Turn system icons on or off
Then turn off Input indicator.

On my system however it turns itself back on after a reboot. So it does not appear to be working as intended yet.

Hi,
This is the answer, the same as in Windows 8.1
The Windows Club: Turn Off Language Bar or Input Indicator in Windows 8.1
Also make sure in the last step "The Text Services and Input Languages settings box" 'Hidden'
Best regards

I have a German keyboard and use Eng-US for display and system(American expat), the only way to get rid of it for good, as it seems to have a mind of it's own, is to go to Control Panel>Language>Options(right hand side)>input methodand remove the keyboard(s) you don't have/use.

I have a Swedish keyboard, only one language setting, perhaps that is the key difference why the method I mentioned above (post #3) works for me?

Best regards

Hallo Cliff,

I'm in your same condition (US+GER), but how could you remodve the US keyboard, when english is your display language????

Thanks for helping,
Marco

Yep! On my system(Now 10 before 8.1) that little bugger kept popping up not only after every boot/restart, but just when ever it had a mind too. When I cleaned up unused language settings, it stopped. There is a thread in Eight blog about it too.

...what I mean is that if I go into language options for english US language, Inder Input method (US) the "Remove" button is disabled,
so there is no possibility to remove the english keyboard...

Does you settings look like these? And try Advanced settings(on left)>change language bar hot keys and remove from there.

Thanks... it works now!!!
