How to disable Telemetry and Data Collection in Windows 10

How to disable Telemetry and Data Collection in Windows 10

Windows 10 now comes with the telemetry feature enabled by default which collects all sorts of user activity and sends it to Microsoft. Unfortunately, Microsoft has provided no way to disable it completely using the Settings app for Home and Pro editions of Windows 10. Only Enterprise users can turn it off. Here is a solution for editions other than Enterprise to disable Telemetry and Data Collection in Windows 10.

Thanks fior the link. I'm doing this on my daily use Desktop since I don't want it in the Insider program. Will see what happens after I reboot.

Thanks Indianatone for the link. The data collection from open Telemetry to MS goes out to the world IMO from reading up on this. Hell no, Google snooping is bad enough. This topic should be read by everyone who wants to keep things that need to stay private private. Probably could add after your topic title ...And Why. Just a suggestion.

Not sure how this will impact failures but dealing with MS for 13 years now has netted no solutions to problems from them when queried to send error codes etc. to them. Not once.

I've been on the Internet for over 20 years, cant say I've ever had anything bad happen yet, no MIB knocking on the door, no bank accounts raided nothing.
I've got nothing to hide so I'm not really worried.

I had a constant sawtooth network tick of 8kb/s and disabling this eliminated it

Just saying. "I bet you have at the least, been probed". There are never enough layers of security software.

Today, for the first time ever, I got the infamous phone call to remove a suspicious virus from my PC. Can't not print the reply to that caller. But, he called back and thanked me very ....ing much. Is this a win 10 thing don't know but, never experienced this on any of the other operating systems xp - 8.1. Heck of a coincidence. Oh well, computers and their operators will remain computers and their operators.

I call - if MS wants to view my hidden porn, or websites I view, let 'em. It's my finances that I may worry about, but heck, they have enough offshore cash, MS please make a 6 figure deposit into my main checking, or my paypal account, I swear I won't tell a soul

I had a client get that phone call this week as well, I'm wishing I would so I could go off on the caller hehehe....

Want Windows 10 to stop tracking you? Now there's an app for that

Microsoft is as dumb as a bag of hammers.

I liken this to a spaghetti thrown at the wall to see what sticks.
Meaning....
These intrusive features will only be complained about by a majority while hackers and those who know will just shut everything down and rebuild a new version of 10 ground up.
You have a mess load of releases that have been hacked and altered since Windows came to market so just give me an altered version that plays my games and Arcade emulation. Let the sheep use the XBox app so they can see their scores online. BFD.

What gets me is that this kind of behavior should be on the box at the store and every other outlet with a warning sticker.
Warning, Microsoft by default collects your metadata without you knowing it then sues the NSA for doing the same thing to them.
