Hello ALL:
I remember when upgrading from Win 8.1 to 10, there were many GB of files that could be removed.
Well, after my TechBench upgrade, my Image backup has grown by 11GB!!! Does anyone know where these unneeded files are? I would sure like to get my 11GB back!
do a disk clean up and select clean system files
That was fast! I can try that. I do remember that there were folders that you could go to. I just was always afraid of disk cleanup! :-)
Here's a very nice tutorial on how to accomplish what you want to do:
Disk Cleanup - Open and Use in Windows 10 - Windows 10 blog
I looked at diskcleanup and it said I can recover 157 MB. Is 1511 really 11GB bigger than Win 10 240?
That's the space of the old OS. The .old folder contains the remints of build 10240 and that's how big that is.
WOW, you "guys" are FAST. I will look for a .old...
WOW... Windows.old is 18GB!
Can I just remove it all? I think I can.
Also, can I remove $Windows-BT and WS?
Rabbits move fast.. what you can do is run the disk cleanup and get rid of the old junk. This is assuming that you're system is working fine and stable.
System is fine...not sure why it removed CPUZ, but diskcleanup is not showing this. Can I just delete Windows.old, $Windows-BT and WS with my FileManager (Q-DIR).
OK, I changed permissions on the WS and BT and removed them. On to .old!
