Cannot migrate from 7 to 10 !!!!!!!!!!!

After much fuss, I have windows 10 working successfully on my laptop.
Being so pleased with W10, I decided to install/upgrade to W10 on my main Desktop PC. Easy? - NO !!!!!!!!!!!!
However I try to install, I meet failure messages. Tried the upgrade from windows method - Used a suitable USB/Media stick. On each occasion I cannot get the desired result.

Prior to the upgrade attempt, I must disclose that I was having a battle trying to get KB 3110329 to install - this seemed impossible. After successfully installing this KB, when A restart was made the update was rejected, and a reversion took place.
My simple mind said, lets hide this troublesome KB and try again - no joy whatsoever. The question is, do I somehow HAVE TO get this KB 3110329 installed before I can do a successful task? I also get a 8007000D error message as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
PS
the laptop was 64 bit, but the Desktop is 32 Bit.

Hi,

I also get a 8007000D error message as well
From command prompt admin run the following:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

When finished rerun the update.

Cheers,

You can just upgrade by downloading iso from here, and double clicking on it, and running setup.exe. No need to worry about prior updates of files on pc.

Thanks fdegrove -
when I run those commands, all I get are messages to say that 'commands are not recognised as an external or internal, operable program or batch file.

Not quite sure how to go about making a iso disk. As I type, I have followed (HOPEFULLY) the instruction given in your link, and it is telling me that there are now 23 minutes left to go -DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT??

Further information as follows -
The Iso disk did in fact successfully download.
I ran this late last night, and all was well until I was asked for a product key number (I was not expecting this). I entered the number, which was rejected, so came to a full stop at that point.
I thought about this - THEN remembered that I had in fact updated this PC some 6 months ago, but then returned to windows 7. Perhaps this is why I was unable to install last night??
Ran a check using belarc to find that my original product key was recorded + a secondary number.
Be aware that my windows 7 installation is fully activated etc etc.
Your further thoughts would be appreciated.

Have run upgrade from within windows to be greeted by several error message inc 8007000D
Have run ISO disk to be greeted with a request for product key - when entered this was rejected
Have run from USB, to be greeted with a 'something happened' message - win 10 installation failed.

It seems my only course is to do a win 7 reinstall - then do the upgrade? - what do you think, is there something I am missing here?
I note also that most recent updates are reported as failed in the view recent update report..

Which reg number did you enter, your W7 ?

Yes CountMike - that was the number I used

If you go to Settings > Accounts > Manage my Microsoft account, it will get you to your account on MS site and you can see if your Device (in this case your MB) is there.

I'm having a similarly wonderful experience trying to upgrade a laptop. I've upgraded most of our machines, around 7 or so, and had mostly solvable problems, but this one is just not working, no matter what I try. I've tried doing from the W10 logo in the tray, when I do that it completely hangs on "getting updates". I tried cloning the disk, and doing the update from a USB stick, and there it also hangs. I tried updating from a USB stick with the network disconnected, and it actually completes, but then I get an activation error... Must be a bad upgrade day for everyone.

I think MS did a decent job overall with this whole upgrade thing for the most part, but there are a ton of super challenging upgrade problems many people are having that don't seem to have any thread of commonality behind them. Just a bunch of random PITA problems
