Everything started installing fine, it then rebooted and loaded the windows 10 logo with a huge "Windows is upgrading" on my screen, at around 10% it reboots, says somethign weird about "restoring to previous windows version", loads my current windows 7 and then gives me this error message :
I have the same screen show up with code 0x8007025D - 0x2000C
found this:
I'm trying again and will let you know how it goes.
nope, didn't work. same thing.
Also I'm trying to upgrade from windows 7 so I can't sync licenses, disappointed.
The only solution I see is reinstalling windows 7 (or whatever you have) and then re-doing the installation.
Well, it somehow worked for me, I'm writing this on Windows 10 !
Anyways, I don't think I did anything special, I did the following thing before trying the set-up for like 10th time today :
Updated my graphic's card.
Deleted lots of junk apps I stopped using from my disk C, previously I had 12 GB (With the set-up files) which should have been enough, after the clean-up I had 17 GB.
Changed my system locale to United States (on my windows 7).
After that I run the set-up and it went through, I'm mostly positive that updating my graphics card and changing my system locale had nothing to do with it, so probably deleting junk helped.
Try it, I dunno xD
Edit***
1 More thing, I actually checked the box before installing windows 10 that said "Help us to improve the windows 10 installation" or something like that.
I also got it installed. after trying all kinds of stuff and none of it worked, I finally tried one thing I haven't done before.
Instead checkmark that I don't want to keep anything, I checked to keep everything. This time the install went through without a hitch. Don't know why I had to keep all programs and files. I wanted to start fresh on this tablet. I'll test it for awhile before I upgrade all my other computers.
I had this too.
It seems to be a lack of disk space on the C (installation) drive, even though it checks for enough space before it starts.
When the error came up, my available space had gone down to 16 GB (c drive is ssd used mainly for OS)
I uninstalled a few programs to free up a bit of space and it worked fine.
A quick google search of the error message shows this page > Windows Update error 0x80070070 - Windows HelpIf you receive Windows Update error 0x80070070 or 80070070 when you use Windows Update, it means that there isn't enough drive space on your PC to install updates. You can uninstall applications you don't use, delete or archive files you no longer need or add removable storage to clear space.
Had the same issue on one of my PCs, tried so many things. But finally discovered that the message "Safe_OS Apply_image" can mean several errors and that the error code is important to read !!
So I googled 0x80070070 - 0x2000C and found this thread.
Thanks guys, it worked ! I freed-up space on C: and the upgrade went smooth !
I am a computer technician and know all the tricks and could not get Windows 10 to install on a Dell M5030. Did a clean install of Win7 Home x64. Removed Wifi card. Removed Graphic drivers. Disabled all wireless, USB, and set default settings in the BIOS. Updated BIOS to latest. Brand new disk drive. Did chkdsk and sfc with no errors. Even swapped motherboards. Gets to 40% install then permanent black screen and no cursor or disk activity. Tried both ISO and from windows update. I guess Windows 10 is not compatible with the Dell M5030
