Windows 10 Image to New Hard drive, not working

I have purchased a new WD Blue 2TB hard drive.
I had a WD Blue 1TB hard drive with W10 on it, all working etc.
I created a System image of the W10 on the 1TB hard drive to a
inatek USB external hard drive.
I also created a System repair CD Disc for W10
I got my new 2TB hard drive and put it in the Pc - Not this one I am using to send this Request.
I put the repair disc in which the system found and I booted from it, after selecting the UK Keyboard I went through the procedure and found the restore system image. It found my backup system image and after selecting it we got to the re-image your computer screen. I know it take some time but it has now been overt 3hrs and the small green bar has stayed exactly the same without moving, the blue light on my USB back up drive is flashing at times and then static at times.
I know that something is wrong as when I have done this procedure before it takes approx 40mins max
Any one any ideas how to proceed.
Thanks
Steve Bishop

What are you trying to accomplish here? Restore image to a new drive like creating a clone?

I had a 1Tb hard drive on which I had windows 7. I upgraded to windows 10, but found that I needed a larger hard drive. So I imaged the new windows 10 to an external drive. Got my new 2TB hard drive an am trying to get the image to install on my new hard drive.
So yes is the answer.

WELL THERE IS THE MISTAKE you should of clone the drive it would been ok im not going to explain the reason wy its irrelevent but that is the problem
Cloning a drive actually clones the entire contents of the drive to another drive or partition and does not create an image file. Cloning a drive is useful to upgrade your hard drive

Just do a direct cloning. Download the Free Macrium Reflect. You can find download links from here: New Macrium Reflect Update
And if you are not sure how, there are tons of Youtube videos about it.
