Auto update Windows 10, version 1607; Major Problems

Hello everyone

I just woke up to a Windows 10, version 1607 update and a lot of my stuff has been changed. For instance I had the arrows removed from the shortcuts on my desktop icons, but now they are back. I had used this method:

Shortcut Arrow Icon - Change, Remove, or Restore in Windows 10 - Windows 10 blog

I also had my window accent borders changed to solid black, but now it's back to some default gray. Moreover when I clicked the start menu my account info (like my account's pic) as at the top, now it's on the side.

And lastly when I right click my taskbar I no longer have "Properties" to change features there...

That's what I noticed in just 5 mins. My update history simply says

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607

Anyone else getting stuff like this?

Things reset and change to sometimes NEW defaults after EACH UPGRADE or Build. It can be a chore to make things the way you like it. Some bulds will make it difficult or impossible to make things like you had them. Get used to it, It will happen a couple times a year.

P.S. Welcome to Windows 10, version 1607

I am happy to hear this is normal. I got nervous here almost thinking I may have been hacked. Windows was asking me for passwords, things were all changed without my direct input, I woke up to just my computer changed and it was jarring.

Thank you very much for the response. I'll get to work on trying to get things back to normal.

I support 10 computers for family and friends, 9 have been returned back to Win 7, only one is willing to stick it out. The Win 7 owners were tired of the reset changes when auto upgrades are done, plus they said they gained nothing with Win 10 so they wanted the more stable Win 7 and like the navigation better. A few said they will try Win 10 in about 2 years when it's more finalized.

My experience is different. Out of literately 100's of computers since July 2015 only 6 needed to go back or stay on 7. The ones with CLEAN installs have 0 issues. A few quirks on upgrades though but easily fixed.

Tweaks will go on till the optimum settings are achieved. Every up-date has it's challenges, but I do believe MS is listening. The up-dates are reflective of user comments. 7 wasn't perfect in the beginning, it evolved over time!
