OEM Custom Restore Image

Good Evening,

I was wondering if someone could advise me. I am an OEM building computers for my customers and up until now I build the computer install windows configure in Audit Mode sysprep back into OOBE then ship the computer to the customer with windows installation media.

However moving forwards I would like some way of setting a recovery option that allows my customer to wipe and reset the computer back to how I shipped it to them not just to windows clean install image.

I would love to use windows built in tools for reset but I don't know how to go about this. I need to be able to set the image after sysprep when the machine is going back into oobe but without completing oobe.

Does anyone know how this is done?

Thanks very much in advance!

Hi.
Not sure if this will help, but maybe you can work a recovery partition into your setup using this?
One Key Recovery - Create a Factory Restore Partition with AOMEI OneKey Recovery

Does anyone know how this is done?
You would use Scanstate "User State Migration Tool" from the ADK to create a provisioning package to capture your customizations..
Into a .ppkg file - if that file is in the recovery folder - when the user selects Reset - windows resets itself from the backup copies within the winsxs folder - then will apply the mirgration .ppkg file if present...

That .ppkg file is the same as a custom.wim - in fact if you rename from .ppkg to .wim it is a custom wim and works like a wim.....

So it is a custom.wim by another name..

search User State Mirgration Tool, Provisioning for windows 10

Note: you have to patch the current Scanstate.exe within the current ADK -
MS has said the new release of the ADK will include the patched file...

Provisioning Package - Create in Windows 10

one big problem with that guide is the fact that you install windows ADK and then capture it in the customizations....

As part of the initial process David and I worked along and tested the results..

I have the program all scripted out - and is run from a USB Stick...

But do not have access to that PC..

So the guide works.. But better off doing a little more research first...

He wrote the guide for the way it worked for him and the way he did... Even after a long discussion with me..

hell even found an old attachment..

Hi there

Isn't there an OEM license for "manufacturers" that can "SYSPREP" a machine.

This might help

OEM system builder licensing

Not sure though on the "Scale" you wish to supply Windows machines. This might be overkill. In any case a chat to a Microsoft representative would probably sort you out decently.

he can deploy a custom image - But, he would have to use a pid file for each deployment to inject the product key
