WHat defines if a system is busy and should not sleep?

I started uploading the iso for the 10158 build to my OneDrive last night before I went to bed expecting it to complete overnight then sleep and eventually hibernate.

Instead, the laptop went into sleep mode and the upload to OneDrive did not complete.

So my question is, what tells Windows 10 (build 10158 in this instance) when sleep is allowed or not. I thought network activity would be sufficient but apparently not.

I don't believe this is a Windows 10 specific problem but this is as good a place as anywhere to discuss.

Did you do an actual upload? Or did you just put it in your folder and have it sync? Syncing is intentionally designed to not override sleep mode, since syncing is a background activity. If you were to upload it with your browser to the site, it probably would have been fine.

Ah ha! I just copied to my OneDrive folder. I'll try copying with a browser later and see what happens tonight.

Thanks

best solution -- dont use sleep

no idea how this works,

but clearly win10 dont understand this shouldnt have made it go to sleep, it's broken

dont wait for thigns to get better, have better thigns to do, just go with the best solution

Just finished trying this by uploading directly to OneDrive on my Desktop running Windows 8.1.1 Pro X64. Upload completed after several hours but the file disappeared, never showed up on OneDrive. This was a 3.

I do this all the time to MediaFire and never have upload problems.

This was a 3.9GB iso files.

My upload speed is capped by the ISP at 2MB which is why it takes so long.

I'll try it again tonight on my laptop by doing the upload from the OneDrive web site, see what happens. If it still goes to sleep then Windows 10 is broken and I'll submit a problem report or bump one if it's already there.

MS may not allow Windows ISOs on OneDrive (just speculation), because I had one of the Win 10 TP builds vanish on me on OneDrive.

Just started the upload again from my Web Server which runs 24/7 and never sleeps or hibernates. Will see how that works.
