Why is my name showing up on "NETWORK" ?

Hey guys, i got an issue with my laptop. I am trying to change a folder name because it is named after me which is a different name than what i call my computer. Every time i go to rename it it won't let me. I have no idea why my first name is being used on a folder. I would like to change it to something else. I have attached a couple pictures. Any help would be great.

That user folder is where all of the files associated with your user account on that computer are stored. The only way to change it (that I know of) is to create a new user account for yourself (make sure you change the new user account to the Administrator type), then copy your data files from the old user folder to your new user folder and then delete your old user account.

The reason it is showing up under network is because you likely have public folder sharing turned on. See this tutorial, but look at the option for public folder sharing instead of the password protected sharing option:
Password Protected Sharing - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 blog

sir...

when looking at the left of the screen shot. your computers name is MYCOMP.

and that user folder will show while browsing your computer from the network. unless you tell your system not to show it.

@dskiller

Yes i know. I don't know how my first name got used to name a folder.

Ok thanks i'm gonna try that. How can i add a new user account ? Will it ask me to change it to administrator type or is that tricky to do ? Sorry i am terrible with computers.

It will not ask you to change it, that's how a lot of people end up without an administrator account on their computers. It's easy to change once you create the new user account:
Account Type - Change in Windows 10 - Windows 10 blog

The name for your user folder comes from the name you select for your user account. On my computers, I create a local account first, called John. My user folder, therefore, gets called John. If I were to create a MS account login first, before creating the local account, them my user folder gets created using the first few letters of the MS account login, something like johnhaverc. That's why I create a local user account for myself first - I want my user folder to be just John. Then when you change the user account later to a MS account login, the user folder name stays the same.

Ok. I made a new user account but i can't find it. Do i need to reboot ?

I created a new user and i see how to remove my old account but first how do i bring over all my settings and files to this new user account ?

You have to sign out or reboot, then log into the new account you created. Right click on the start icon and you will get the option to sign out.
