Bios won't let him upgrade

Hey gang, i got a friend who is having problems up-grading from 8.1 to W-10 ! It's a Asus Gaming computer he tried this link >>> Windows 10 <<<
So he sent me this message "Tried running the Windows 10 upgrade its saying BIOS isn't supported" !!

He's not computer smart so he asked me to help him do this !!
Any help guys !!!!

Thanks
Chuck

Go to the manufacturer website, download the bios upgrade and upgrade the bios.

You may get the best help if you can supply the model number. "Asus gaming computer" doesn't say enough about what it is.

Sorry guys, not leaving you hanging he just has not answered me back !! If he doesn't soon i will mark this as solved !!
Thanks
Chuck

This operator called ASUS and they tried talking him threw updating & something went wrong and now he gets a green screen all the time.
Told him to take it to a shop & reload W8.1 on it. I will never buy an Asus computer !! So this can be locked !!

The BIOS update went wrong?

A lot of Asus motherboards have a BIOS recovery method. No guarantee that it'll work, but I suggest trying a few more things before taking it to a shop. It's in the manual. (Tee manual is available for download, if the hard copy has been lost.)

Another alternative would be to replace the BIOS chip. Asus used to sell them directly through their estore (for $25), but they don't seem to do that any more. There are a number of eBay merchants that can provide them. (Basically, anyone with access to an eeprom burner can burn one.) The physical chip is typically an 8 pin DIP, which is simple to replace. (It may be something your friend isn't up for dealing with, though.)

Sorry that your friend had a BIOS update go bad. I did them myself for years without any trouble. When the industry switched to UEFI instead, I bricked two motherboards (from different manufacturers) with failed updates. One of the boards was supposed to be dual BIOS, but it lacked a manual switch to use the backup BIOS, so that feature failed to work automatically.

Thanks Bobkn, for your reply which i relayed ! He wanted me to find him a Disk for W8.1 so he could reload the system !! Now he is on his own !!
Thanks
Chuck

I'm confused. Why would he need to reload the OS, if he didn't get beyond a BIOS update?

He has taken it to a shop !!
