32bit version

I have a RH Websters Unabridged Dictionary from 1999 for which I haven't found a replacement. It ran fine with Windows 7 and worked with a minor problem in Windows 8.1. Now, if it's on a machine when Windows 10 is installed it works fine. But, the .exe program to install simply won't run. I'm tried the compatibility options and that didn't help.

I would appreciate suggestions on getting it to run or alternative unabridged dictionaries for Windows 10.

Can you tell me, if you were able to solve the problem? Thank you.

This might shed some light on what your trying to do. Run an old program on a new PC | PCWorld

Thank you. I am using the 32bit version of Windows 10. The message that pops up when I start Random House dictionary is: Rhudwin caused a general protection fault in Module H5KRNL16.DLL at000B:E28E.

However I can run the dictionary in my administrator account in Windows 10, but not on my standard account, even if I start the dictionary there in administrative mode.

Thank you.

Sounds like a permission problem. Have you tried running it with administrator privilege and compatibility mode for a earlier version of Windows?

I just tried to install the same program on my 64-bit Win10 and it does nothing, no error messages so I tried it on my 64-bit Win7 and it worked the second try. The first try on my Win7 failed because I have the 64-bit version of Office 2010/Word 14 and it wouldn't do the add-in/interface. For the second try I left off that add-in and it went perfectly.

Added: Just fired up my 32-bit Win10 and RHWUD installed perfectly. Didn't use Compatibility or Run as Administrator.

Thank you Patrickt and Winuser,

I tried running it with administrator privilege and compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows, but always the same message pops up and it doesn't run. Is there any way I can have access to adminstrator privilege mode from my standard mode (again, strangely enough, when I start from adminstrative account right at the beginning, the Random runs without any problems, but if I start from my standard account [which I prefer] whether with administrator privilege or compatibility mode for Windows 7 or XP) ist doesn' budge.
