Any software around for streaming DVD ISO's to remote devices.

Hi there
Was wondering if there was any software around that would stream DVD / BLU RAY ISO images to remote devices.

Currently I have DVD / BLU RAY de-crypted ISO rips stored on NAS but to play the DVD's on remote TV with things like PLEX media server I have to rip these to MKV (I use MAKEMKV - only takes seconds for standard DVD from HDD ISO but seems a waste to store these AND the ISO's. I keep the ISO's as I can re-create the originals plus they have menus plus special features etc.

I don't want to Mirror screen from a Phone etc -- the SERVER should be able to dish up the ISO content which I could then play using either the TV's standard remote controller or via a controller app on a Mobile phone.

Once the playback starts the Phone can be switched off etc --i.e the phone app would only be used as a "Handset" for controlling something like Google Chromecast.

Any ideas here

Thanks
jimbo

Mezzmo says they do ISO, but i dont have anything in that format to test, I rip all mine as MP4

If you have ripped Blu-rays, DVDs or ISO files, then Mezzmo is perfect for you! Streaming ripped Blu-rays, DVDs and ISO files is easy with Mezzmo. Mezzmo will automatically find all your ripped Blu-rays, DVDs and ISO files and add videos from them into your Mezzmo library. Then simply stream these videos to your devices just like you stream any other video.
Mezzmo will also get poster artwork and text metadata for your Bly-ray and DVD movies and TV shows.

Hi there
Thanks --I'll give that a wirl --I've got an old machine with a version of Mezzmo on it plus the mobile phone app --I switched from Mezzmo to PLEX a while ago because of an issue with subtitles but I might give that another wirl.

I have been ripping to MKV (with subtitles where appropriate) but if I can play the ISO remotely that would be great - worth upgrading the licence.
I 've been making decrypted / de-regionalized ISO's with AnyDVD.

The only disadvantage is that I'd have to run Mezzmo from a Windows VM on my NAS server -- that's not a problem as the transcoding isn't a big deal - my Wifi is mega fast too so plenty of time to allow for large buffers -- on the fly transcoding these days isn't (or doesn't have to be ) a huge CPU HOG.
remember the transcoding only needs to keep up with you watching in Real time (plus a bit for buffering) unlike Ripping where you want to do it reasonably quickly.

Works apparently to Chromecast too --I'll have a go with that as well.

Thanks

Cheers

Even if you dont go for this, keep an eye on Mezzmo, they are currently revamping it and updating to V5, sounds like they are following the Plex style and adding a web UI to it, plus other changes

Like you I mainly use Plex now, but waiting to see what the new Mezzmo offers
