Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB3140742
This CU is not available via Windows Update though

Microsoft has just released a new cumulative update for Windows 10, but for the moment, it doesn’t seem to be available through the usual Windows Update distribution system.

At this point, the only way to get cumulative update KB3140742 is to manually download it, so you can click the links at the bottom of the article to do so. Make sure you get the right version for your computer and please note that KB3140742 is only available for Windows 10 1511 (November Update), so users still on the RTM build (10240) won’t be able to install it.

Microsoft is yet to publish a KB article for this update, so it’s not yet clear what it includes, but most likely, it’s all about bug fixes and performance improvements. The recently released Windows 10 update history page doesn’t provide any information on update KB3140742 at the time of writing this article.

Another one of those ?

I pass.

Adding ............... thanks for informing us. Much appreciated.

Yep I'll pass too. Pretty infuriating moves by MS. Wonder what their motives are for dangling the carrot and leaving the public uncertain. Maybe it's a sneaky move to get more beta testers prior to a release through Windows update. I have no desire to be a Guinea Pig so I think it's best to wait for Windows update

Maybe it's the new Release Preview ring for the current branch that they're testing out. This is the 2nd one like this.

You might be right - I'm not one for beta or preview releases though, I don't like nasty untested surprises and bugs - Windows 10 gives enough of those as it is in the current builds!

Running fine here up to now.

Thanks for the heads up CH.

I'll pass too. Had too much trouble with the last one that didn't come from WU.

Thanks.. downloading just in case I need it later on.
