Buy tablet now, or wait for the release of 10?

I have a Huge, snorting, chugging laptop... buf am more enamored by lightweight, more portable tablets these days.

Looking to buy a 10"-12" 'kind of on the light side' Windows tablet. Just don't know when.

Any suggestions?

You can buy now and later make the free Windows 10 upgrade (once it is available in the fall).

This is the tablet my wife is using. It is 10" and very good. But I have trouble with the small keyboard. I gota slightly bigger laptop with the same specs (watch the video on the link). I paid only $99. The additional 2" in size make a big difference.

Be aware that those devices are considered Instant Go devices and will be automatically encrypted when the OS is installed. I made a write-up about that and how you deal with it.

How's the quality on those? I have a cheepie Win 8.1 tablet that yes, is inexpensive... but the power connection is already loose, where I have to jiggle it sometimes- to make it connect. Also the screen brightness level for no known reason would dim, then brighten back to normal after a second or two.

I like how yours has a regular-sized USB jack.

And wondering if the tablet will automatically be considered decrepit/obsolete when 10 comes out? Yes, I can upgrade to 10 later... but as you know, tablets just barely do the job in most cases now. What hapoens when 10 is rolled out?

I think both of those devices are very solid. The T100 Transformer USB port is a USB3. On the X205 it is 2xUSB2. I really like both machines.

I would not worry about the W10 upgrade. There is no reason that they should not be upgradeable tp W10. And they are not that cheap. Only now they offer the T100 for $250. We still paid $350. And the X205 was a special on Black Friday. Normal price is $250 - sometimes $199.

Upgradable, yes. Easy/fun to use????? Or too slow?

Well, Windows 10 is a bit different than W8.1. But not that much. If you did not know you would think it is Windows 8.2. There are some new things like Cortana and the Spartan browser. But right now those are still in an infancy state and work so, so.
