IS there any way to boot directly to desktoop as Win8.1 does?

My wife is about the worst technophobic person you will ever find and I have our Win8.1 laptop set up so that it boots directly to the desktop. I will put a standard user profile for her but I would like to make Win 10 as easy for her to get used to as I can.

10 boots to desktop only.

Windows 10 boots directly to the desktop after the login screen. With autologin, the desktop opens directly without login, which is ok for a device at home. The means to do this is exactly the same as windows 8.1, using netplwiz at the start menu, although if you upgrade, the autologin settings may carry over.

Thanks; Now I know it can done. I will face how later, the netplwiz is something I will have to look up then as no way would this old man remember that. I do not remember what I did in Win8 other than I followed instructions that came out when Win8.1 did. Thanks again.

Just call me the netplwiz!

netplwizzard????

Don't worry with your wife's technophobia with this one. Mine is the same and, honestly, after changing her comp running Vista to win 10, she wouldn't have noticed any difference! (Not enough to confuse her, anyway!).

netplwiz.exe or the Advanced User Accounts Control Panel aka netpolicywizard aka userpasswords2.cpl - among other tasks it allows you to set autologon

Thanks again.
You don't mind if I call you by your fist name do you Just call me?

The boot to desktop carried over. Almost all is the same except MS pushes Bing and Edge which I changed for her to use. I have a little problem with a Lenovo Dolby driver (they call it a driver anyway) but after an hour I sent a note to there website asking why I could not find any help for Win 10 problems. Another day, because I do not understand what good Dolby advanced sound will do for a low priced laptop anyway. The laptop boots up about as fast as it did with Win 8.1. Oh yes, the sound is better and loader now after updating to Win 10.
