I upgrading almost immediately to windows 10 and have loved it until tonight. I have a huge media library, 10TB and have filled that so I need to add a hard drive. I went to add another 2TB drive and Windows 10 would not format it. Kept saying "windows in unable to format this drive" It showed as RAW. It was plugged into a expansion card and I thought there was an issue there so I swapped the DVD-RAM drive to the expansion card and plugged the new drive into the motherboard, I also removed the CDROM as a boot option in BIOS since it kept trying to boot from whatever CD i had in the drive. When I restarted I got the screen that gave the error code 0xc000000f and told me to insert my windows media, select language and do recovery.
Windows 10 downloaded so I dont have a disc for it. I put CD-ROM back as a boot device and tried the windows 7 disc but as soon as you select windows 7 setup it goes back to the error screen saying to insert your windows media. My thought is this may have something to do with windows seeing a hardware change? Everything is back the way it was but it's still locked. Any ideas?
Probably booting priority changed while moving devices around. Enter BIOS and make sure your hard disk is first in the hard disks list when booting. I set DVD-ROM, hard-disk etc as boot order, so I can boot from CD for troubleshooting, but I make sure my Windows 10 hard disk is first in the hard disk subcategory. So fix the boot priority order and the problem should solve.

That was the first thing I tried actually. I didn't remember which of my 2 1tb drives is the primary so I tried each all by itself and only one of them is giving this error. The other just says boot disk failure. This error would have to be on the boot drive, no?? It's a windows error so a drive that doesn't have windows installed wouldn't generate this screen. Or am I wrong.

It won't let me in. I don't have the windows 10 disc since it was a free download load and the windows 7 disk loads but then immediately dumps me back to this error screen. I'm going to try making a windows 10 disc using my other desktop that has also been upgraded but I'm not sure it that will work? Use the media creation tool and make media for your edition of windows. It will work fine. Here's a tutorial showing how along with a link to make the media. Windows 10 ISO Download .
