Double entries in directory

Hi Chaps
apologies if this has been asked before, but here goes.

I recently upgraded my windows 7 laptop to windows 10. It would seem to have been successful, and I am pleased with the outcome.

Just noticed a little quirk, and need advice.
When I plug in a USB memory stick OR a USB external drive - the device shows twice in the directory. As I type this, I have a USB external hard drive plugged in. The directory list shows 2 entries 'E Drive' - when both are expanded, each has full details of the disks content!

Thoughts and suggestions welcomed

Check out this tutorial - it shows how to remove the double entries if you wish to do so:

Drives in Navigation Pane - Add or Remove in Windows 10

Thank you philc43 - I read this with interest.

Many thanks for your post - This seems to relate to the inclusion of the drive in the listing, and/or the removal of a drive from the list.
My problem is slightly different, in that if I have the file explorer on the screen - and then plug in (for example) a USB stick - this will be instantly recognised, but 2 entries will be shown in the file explorer list.
The USB just inserted in the slot is shown twice as (E)

After much sear
ching, I found this which has resolved the problem. Thanks once again to philc43 for your kind input.

1.Press WIN+Rkeys together to open RUN dialog box. You can also open it from WIN+X menu. Now type regeditin RUN dialog box and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor.
2.Now go to following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerDesktopNameSpaceDelegateFold ers
3.Under "DelegateFolders" key, you'll find {F5FB2C77-0E2F-4A16-A381-3E560C68BC83}key.

4.Now delete the {F5FB2C77-0E2F-4A16-A381-3E560C68BC83}key and it'll immediately remove the duplicate drive icons from This PC's Navigation Pane.
Now you'll no longer see any drive icon twice in the Navigation Pane of This PC.
NOTE:If you are using 64-bitedition of Windows 10, you may notice that the drive icon is still present in "Browse" dialog box such as Save, Save as or Open in some 3rd party 32-bit programs. To remove the duplicate drive icon from there, you'll need to perform the same steps in following key as well:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWOW6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerDesktopNameSpace DelegateFolders
Under "DelegateFolders" key, delete {F5FB2C77-0E2F-4A16-A381-3E560C68BC83}key.

Good to know you fixed it. Your method is exactly the same as the one in the tutorial that I linked to which does all of it in one go using the .reg file provided.
