Reverting back to windows 8.1

Good day everyone. I had just installed windows 10 on my pc. I just want to know,if i go back to windows 8.1 will the installed applications that I had on windows 8.1 still be installed if i revert back to my previous windows 8.1.

When I installed windows 10 I used an installation disk and not the upgrade option. The previous windows I had was windows Single Language and the one I have now is Windows Pro.

Hi Kevin, welcome to the windowssh blog.

Reverting back to your previous OS, in this case Windows 8.1 Single Language, will restore it exactly as it was. All your installed applications and data is still there, exactly as it was before the upgrade.

Hi,are you sure it will work? As I said the laptop came out with windows 8.1 and I did not wait for the upgrade to windows 10. I installed windows 10 from an installation disk. I still have the windows.old folder which is quite big

Hi,are you sure it will work?
I would not post something like that if I wasn't sure. I don't post something like that just to get my post count increased .

You have 30 days time to revert back to your previous OS. My answer is valid if you revert during this 30 day period. After that you need to reinstall the original OS.

Thank you very much. Will do it later today

Can you please tell me how I would go about it?

Note that no matter which way you came to Windows 10, you will only be able to go back, if what you did actually was an upgrade. Not a clean installation, but an upgrade.

If you have in fact done a clean installation, then there will be nothing to go back to; you will then have to reinstall Windows 8.1 differently.

When I installed windows 10 I chose the upgrade option, but I still had to install my applications manually.....

In this case the Settings app should show you the option to go back to Windows 8.1.

The Windows 10 upgrade may have uninstalled or replaced programs, but that does not affect, what you had in Windows 8.1. And according to Microsoft, the revert should restore the system as it was before. So reverting the OS should bring back what you had before.
