at this moment i'm installing Win 10 TP and then i want to try to install Ubuntu 14.04.
before i did install on my other pc win xp and linux,it always gives me an option to install it alongside of winXP,and then i just have to update grub,and it then on boot gives me option to boot linux or Win but with Win 10 TP ,it only gives me option,erase OPS,VLM, and others, do not say install along side, what should i do? thanks
Probably this is because of the "Fast Boot" feature in W10 (as well as in Win8.1). First make sure that you shutdown Windows10 completely, (I think the same guide applies in Windows 10). If the disk is in hibernate mode, Ubuntu installer cannot write in the disk and can't create a proper dual boot . After that, boot from Ubuntu installation media and try again. If this also fail, you might need to go through the Advanced Tools (in Ubuntu installer) and partitioning the disk manually.but with Win 10 TP ,it only gives me option ,erase OPS,VLM, and others, do not say install along side, what should i do? thanks
Get yourself a copy of Virtual Box VM (Free) and then you can run whatever flavor of Linux you wish. For that matter you can run whatever flavor of Windows you would like also. (Just a Thought). . . .

If you want to test the OS, to see some features or using it for learning purposes, then VM is the way to go . You will save yourself a lot of effort and possible failures.
If it runs slower or faster depends on a bunch of stuff including : Hardware Virtualization support, the Virtual machine itself, host specs, guest requirements, maybe more.
But if you need to do some real work in Linux and especially if you need the power of Graphics, then try the real dual boot install.
I just did that with Fedora recently with no issues.

That said, the WEI rating of my W7 VMs is much higher than the WEI rating on my W7 Host OS.
The main difference I've noticed is that the VM boot up generally takes longer than my physical OS (up to 2x).
One thing I'll have to try is a dual boot VM.
