Why can Microsoft understand I don't want to use these POS Realtek drivers. I use to disable driver updates from Windows 10 by going into Device Installation settings and Never install drivers from Windows update but now since the last stupid update everytime the POS Realtek drives install automatically no matter how many times I roll back and remove them. I hate the Realtek drives because the audio is super loud and sounds terrible. I just want to use the Microsoft HD Audio Driver which sounds great and uses little resources but no Windows 10 decides that the POS Realtek driver is better.
Great not only does widows 10 keep installing this POS driver but now I have no sound after I reboot so that means that no matter how many times I uninstall this driver I it just reinstalls and I have no sound again after rebooting. I listen to music and video on my computer more than anything if freaking windows won't let me do that anymore I am going back to Windows 8.1 where I freaking have a choice of what audio driver I want.
I fixed it for now. What a PITA it was. I had to redownload the Hide Windows Update tool and hide Realtek. The weird part is that this was hidden but since the latest update it unhide itself. I tell it to install drivers from Windows update instead of never it still installs that POS Realtek driver anyway.
Microsoft better give us a freaking option to truly stop driver updates or I will be going back to Windows 8.1. I don't mind security updates I always installed them in previous versions of Windows but driver updates which were option I use to always hide and just update them from the manufacture except I never installed the Realtek drivers as they always gave me problems.
This is the only thorn in Windows 10 I hate otherwise I love everything else about it.
Hello Reddice,
After you completely uninstall the driver, you might see if the two tutorials below may be able to help prevent it from being automatically installed again.
How to Turn On or Off Automatic Device Driver Installation in Windows 10
Windows Updates - Hide or Show in Windows 10
Thanks Brink. I did all of that. What happened was since the latest update the crappy Realtek audio driver unhide itself from hide update tool so I had to hide it again. I still however have to keep automatic driver installation in Windows 10 off to prevent that POS Realtek driver from installing even if I hide the update.
Wouldn't disabling realtek in bios be a solution? Or does windows 10 still install drivers?
Sorry for the double post. Don't know how to edit in Tapatalk
After disabling it should be sufficient to hide the realtek updates and then re-enable the chip
No, disabling in Bios...Windows 10 still erroneously see's it, runs it and installs drivers for it...though it >> IS << disabled in Bios.
To prevent it from reinstalling on reboot you must hop through some hoops due to it being stuck in a loop =.=
1: Hide update
2: Disable Windows Update service in: services.msc
3: Reboot and uninstall, reboot again
4: reenable Windows Update service.
After the hoops it wont want to reinstall after every reboot. What happens is the update gets placed in queue to install before you can hide it...long as it's in queue it is seen and installed no matter how many times you uninstall and hide. You must take it out of the loop before it stops.
