Hi!!!
Please can anyone help me??
I am due to fly out for 3 months to south america in a few hours.
My laptop broke (I am a graphic artist and use adobe software a lot) - the insurance company replaced it with this toshiba.
I updated to windows 10 a while ago, and today was installing work software - I noticed the catalyst control centre is not working and the display adaptor (ATI radeon R7 M260) is now showing as "unknown device"!!!
I have tried downloading the ATI drivers from ATI (cannot find hardware), from Toshiba (says install successful, but changes nothing!) and I cannot find any help online!
I do not know what to do and, after the lufthansa strikes this week - I have had no sleep and am very stressed.
Please can anyone help me locate the correct drivers for this graphics card and install them - the built in intel is causing illustrator to drag through the mud, whereas yesterday it was flying!
Thank you!!!
I just noticed in system restore, that the display adaptors that were installed previously were nothing to do with ATI or Catalyst Control Centre, but were from somewhere called "microsolutions"... and that restoring to a point yesterday will reload these drivers while removing the toshiba display drivers that are not working...
I am going to try it - I HATE LAPTOPS!!! D:
in case you can't tell - I AM PANICKING MY ASS OFF HERE!!!
why does this stuff always happen at the last moment before a 24 hour journey into the middle of nowhere, where you have to rely on a pre-built computer with mismatching drivers?? Stupid computers...
For some reason - nvidia physx is installed? I don't get it.
Ahh, it's ok...
Lufthansa have gone on strike AGAIN, so - for the 2nd time this week - my flight is cancelled.
At least this gives me more time to fix this issue. Cloud. Silver lining. Etc...
ok - I guess I will try to figure this out for myself.
Ok - The system restore managed to reinstall the AMD Radeon R7 M260 drivers from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (not amd or toshiba - I have no idea where I could've gotten these drivers from...).
Then, after removing the Toshiba "win 10 upgrade" display drivers, sourced from their EU support site (which I think caused all this problem).... the device manager was showing the radeon R7 back in the list, the win 7 drivers from toshiba for the radeon, which included catalyst control centre, were installed successfully.
Now - the configure switchable graphics and graphics properties options are back in the right click menu, along with the intel graphics options.
Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects are working smoothly again without throwing errors about GPU.
I will try a game in the morning, as I have to sleep, but I think that the performance will be improved there now too - as I can tell the machine to stop using the bloody intel HD lameo-5000 and start using AMD awesome instead.
Thanks for letting me drivel on, as it helped me fix the issue and get the craptop working again.
I still have no idea how to access the bios on this laptop... I've tried every way suggested on the internet to no avail - I'll figure that out another day...
Cheers,
Pete
