Synaptics Touchpad Will Not Scroll (Windows 10)

Hi! New to the forum...I just upgraded my windows 7 original install on my Toshiba Laptop (3 years old) to the Windows 10 Home Preview Build (10130 was installed). Everything appears to be working EXCEPT my touchpad will not scroll.
It is a Synaptics V7.5 on PS-2 port.
I went to the Synaptics website and don't see a windows 10 driver for this...How can i get the scrolling to work on the touchpad (everything else seems to be working on the pad)...
Thanks in advance for all help

The included drivers are basic drivers. You will probably have to wait for Synaptics to release their full drivers.

Yes, it installed the windows driver and only the tapping and pointer swiping works...none of the scroll functions work...
I tried installing the original touchpad driver from toshiba's website (for my original 7 install) and it also did not scroll...
This is not going to go well if a lot of people upgrade to 10 from 7 or 8 and find their laptop's touchpad isn't fully functioning...
And with no simple solution...

Depends on the touchpad, does yours have a dedicated scroll area? The touchpad on my ASUS laptop does not have a dedicated scroll area. All I get is point and click with the default windows drivers. To get the (2 finger) scroll function I have to install the ASUS Smart Gesture Utility. There may be a similar utility required for your touch pad. it's not Windows 10's fault, it can only supply what drivers manufacturers submit for inclusion.

Yes, it has a dedicated scroll area on the right hand section of the touchpad...By the way, on toshiba's site it shows that you can get a driver for windows 8 and 8.1 (that was posted in 2013) but they have no drivers shown for windows 10 yet...Will it be likely that the various laptop manufacturers (including toshiba) would update the ones for older models (like mine which is 3 years old) after windows 10 is released?

Usually they only show drivers for the operating systems that device ships with from the factory. If that model is still being sold and they sell it with Windows 10, you'll see drivers for 10 listed, eventually. If not, don't hold your breath. If Toshiba lists Windows 8/8.1 drivers for your model laptop, try that driver. With a dedicated scroll section I would have thought it would work with the default Windows installed driver. Bad luck on that one.

You can try any version of synaptics driver, you need to try different versions to find the suitable one, for example, try version 17.0.19, I am using Synaptics driver for HP in my Acer laptop and works fine.

Once the manufacturer stops selling the particular laptop they stop providing driver updates. If you are lucky you can get drivers from the manufacturer of the parts that make up your laptop. If I want to use all the features that came with my laptop I need to stick with Windows 7. I can live without those features.

ah, thanks guys...yes, i suspect the reason why they did do drivers for 8 and 8.1 for my toshiba model is because it was only a year after it was released (2012) in the market...so, i guess i should not hold my breath waiting for them to update it to windows 10....

@brummyfan: I didn't realize that you could try ANY version....on the toshiba site, they make it sound like you must first select YOUR particular model (mine is a Satellite L875-S7208)....And when i do, of course, the last updated ones were in 2013...

I noticed that if you select no particular model and just enter Windows 8.1(64 bit) you get 18.1.53.1 which came out in April of this year...So, then i should try something like that and may have better luck?

All i want is it to tap and scroll on the dedicated right hand section of the touchpad...i don't care about all the fancy swipes

Oh, and by the way...when you install a different touch pad driver, you don't need to un-install the other one first, do you? When you install the new one, doesn't it automatically remove the current one?

They want you to select your model to fine tune the selection and make sure you get drivers that will work for the OS you select. A lot of times different models share some of the same hardware. I had an old Acer laptop my father gave me. I ended up going to the downloads for a slightly newer model to get Windows 7 drivers that would work. That models drivers also worked on my older model and got me the drivers I was missing on a clean install. It doesn't hurt to uninstall any previous drivers you've installed that didn't work, before installing a newer one. IMHO It may give you a better chance of success.
