CD/DVD Drive not reading discs

Hello!

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my PC has been unable to read any CD/DVD disc I put in. I hear it spinning so I doubt there's any problem with the CD/DVD Drive itself.

I was thinking it could be a driver issue, but there doesn't seem like there's any problems with it. (As usually there's a yellow ! mark if there seems to be a problem.)

Does anyone have any ideas where the root of the problem could be? And if so, how to resolve the issue?

Thanks!

As i see BD-ROM in explorer and CD-ROM in Device Manager kind of odd, being recognized differently from explorer and Device Manager.
Do not need a driver for an optical drive, but should show model number of the drive ,not a name like CD-ROM.
Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager.

Try troubleshoot Hardware and Sound in control panel here

I scanned for hardware changes, went through the 'Find and fix problems with devices and hardware' and even restarted the pc again, but it's still saying CD-ROM in the device manager.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Your welcome ! Do you happen to know the manufacturer of this BD-ROM drive ? So no disc at all play, but hear them spin ? Did it originally come with system or did you upgrade it ?

Yes I hear the disc spin, and that zooming/moving sound when it's reading the disc. I had to open up my PC and have a look, but it seems to be a sony optiarc ad-5260s

Yes it did originally come with the system. It worked perfectly fine until I upgraded to windows 10.

Wondering why it is saying BD-ROM when it is not one from last pic in last post of yours and specs found.
End of life product, was thinking firmware update, but if came with system said to go to manufacturer's site, do it wrong could make more issues. Telling me you tried Music CD, Movie DVD and neither played ? Not burned discs. If this is so chances drives no good.

When going into the BD-ROM's properties it does mention the CD-ROM Drive

I've tried both a CD and DVD discs but still no luck.

Strange part is why it shows as a Blu-Ray drive. What is D: since it jumps to E: ? Seen other posts like this were ones were not recognized at all after upgrade, but yours is recognized, listed wrong and not reading discs at all.

If you have the option, try unplugging the CD drive from the motherboard SATA port and plug it into a different one, after shutting the PC down of course. Might solve your issue.

Other choice it to make sure have chipset drivers updated and IDE/ATA ATAPI Controllers updated drivers listed in Device Manager. Most cases it is not recognized at all, then be other steps to try as can even be registry fix i have seen in this from other posts here.
