Apps Not Working.

Some of the apps aren't working (Mail, Calendar, Get Office 2013, Microsoft Solitaire Collection) I am not sure how many more apps aren't working.

My calendar and mail are not working either. The calendar is showing but I only get the following.

The email shows but will not change emails when clicked on them and it won't download any new ones.

Thanks

If you try to go into Windows Store you probably won't be able to download apps either. There's something funky with MS's server, I think. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

My mail didn't work (as a live tile or notifications) until I downloaded the latest version (through the store).

I'd recommend you delete all your e-mail accounts, upgrade mail and calendar apps and then add your e-mail addresses again. It worked for me and others here.

Lots of people having this issue, I had it myself, unfortunately different solutions are working (or not, as it may be) for different people. What fixed it for me, was uninstalling and reinstalling the latest windows update from 8/5. However, this hasn't worked for everyone. If you go to the Windows support blog there are quite a few threads over there with other solutions.

I have tried to uninstall but I get this error:

I have tried to uninstall but I get this error:
Not that, the actual Windows update. Go to Control Panel > Programs

Under Programs and Features there is a section called "View Installed Updates"

Click on that and you will see Microsoft Windows updates, uninstall the latest one (KB3081424)

After you've done that, try out your apps again. Unfortunately, again, not everyone has had luck when they reinstalled the update like I did, and worse, Microsoft will automatically reinstall the update at some point. But hey, it worked for me and others so it might fix your problem. Worth a shot!

Nope. Windows update is separate from the store apps (certainly that is the idea anyway although of course windows update could change the api that apps use).

Go to the store, click on the little icon that is supposed to look like a person (a circle with a skirt) and check for updates....

In some people's case who are having problems, the windows store will not download updates. Mine wouldn't either before doing what I suggested above. Hence the uninstalling of the latest windows update which has proved beneficial to some people such as myself.

Here are some threads on the issue with other suggestions outside of uninstalling the update:
Mail app not loading, Windows Store updates not working.

Calendar & Mail not working after latest update.

Did both suggestions above and neither worked. But thanks for trying.
