2 Monitors Only One Background Picture

With the latest build 10074 there doesn't appear to be a way to use two different background pictures on two monitors. This feature has been available since Windows 7, perhaps earlier. I have provided that information to Microsoft.

Using a horizontal inversion on one picture makes a nice desktop background.

Yes, They took this option out. However, you can use a third party software such as: DisplayFusion: Multiple Monitors Made Easy! Binary Fortress Software
Free version to set it then exit the program.

I noticed also that an HD wide, (3840X1080), won't span two monitors either!

This is a casualty of removing the legacy theming system. I'm sure it will return at some point, but may not make the final release.

All that really did was create a bitmap that was a combination of the two bitmaps. You can just as easily create one yourself in paint. Just create a bitmap that is as large as your two monitors wide, and as tall as your largest monitor, then copy and paste one image into one side of it and the other image into the other and save it somewhere. Then use this image.

When using a slideshow, you can have different backgrounds for each monitor

I have 2 monitors, each showing a different background. If I right click on the screen and click " next desktop background" it changes the background on one monitor and if I right click and click " next desktop background" again, it changes the other one. Build 10074.

Thanks! That works for now. I expect MS will put the feature back in for RTM.

Good to hear, I think it will be back in the final version.

I can vouch for DisplayFusion, its a good program and does a lot more than just wallpaper management.

Yes me too and these people are quite fast at making sure DisplayFusion works with the new builds of Windows 10.
