If I have smartscreen enabled, and UAC set at the highest level, does that make security apps like VoodooShield superfluous?
no, it doesn't.
1 some malware can bypass smartscreen and UAC
2 some malware installs by script, which is even trickier to block
3 there are fileless exploits, which are trickiest to block.
For these 3 reasons, you can benefit from Voodooshield, besides the fact that it has Ai to help you evaluate if a file is safe or not.
Did you just answer your own question?
yes, as funny as it may seem. I am more knowledgeable now than I was a year ago...
Ah didn't even notice the original post date so that make's sense.
Do you use anything else with Voodooshield?
I actually change around my security configuration a lot, it's kind of my hobby to try out different security apps and combos.
but here's a good security config that includes VS:
Windows Defender + Voodooshield + HitmanPro.Alert
to download latest version of VS:
a word of explanation: this config is an example of the "layered" concept of security.
in truth, VS alone will give you 100% protection -- if you do everything right and heed all warnings.
but human beings make mistakes and take risks, so that's why it's good to have a second and third line of defense.
Hi!, I´m using VoodooShield free and shadow defender...when something comes in...VS stops it... and at reboot...SD leave my OS as new.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards, Hernán
If you are interested in anti-exploit protection, HitmanPro.Alert is very good.
Thanks for replay, which one do you think is better? I use in a pc: VS and Reboot and Restore RX, and a laptop Shadow defender + VS
If you were me.... shadow defender or Reboot and restore RX / VS or HitmanPro.Alert?
