So I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking GPUs and have a question that likely has an easy answer. Right now I've got a 100 Mhz OC on both my core and memory clocks which puts me up to 1202 core, 3605 memory and 1290 boost. However, Afterburner is showing my core clock as hitting 1416 Mhz max. Where is the extra 126 Mhz coming from?
GPU [Graphics Processing Unit] or CPU [Central Processing Unit]? Could it be the turbocharging of the processor that Intel uses?
GPU. It's my 980Ti.
CPU (i5 6600K) is currently set at stock speeds.
Even though you set a higher OC on the card it Boost higher as well
The Boost technology does not stop even after overclocking my 980 G1 boost to 1607 Mhz when Overclocked to the Gills
Just FYI the CPU turbo speed has nothing to do with GPU boosting clock speeds
Bottom line it is Nvidia Technology that is at work with the 980Ti it's called Boost 2.0

Ah, ok...so it is just the boost clock jumping up. That's what I'd though, but I didn't want to continue trying to get a bit higher without someone confirming that. Appreciate the info.
Basically if you want the best boost and performance set temp profile to max it will boost over 1500mhz eazy
