Build 9865 - Real or a figment of imagination

Hi there.

I've seen a few mentions of the next build - 9865 - but there's not a smidgen of it - even on some of the more obscure places "in the wild".

If Ms really has got this under wraps then I suggest they take over the CIA's security functions -- it's amazing that a huge conglomerate like Ms doesn't have one or two "holes" somewhere - which leads me to suppose that either build 9865 is an early Apr 1st prank or it was a ONE OFF just shown at some demo.

I'm hoping for a new build soon with some of the Touch features working properly too.

Cheers
jimbo

I think we'll see it on Tuesday at the earliest. Given what MS has been saying there are going to be more builds in the TP line so the number of the next one is sort of irrelevant IMO.

I read somewhere of touch improvements, UI improvements and language packs in the next build within the next couple of weeks.

I keep checking 3 or 4 times a day. I have a few minor problems that I hope get fixed in the next update.

There is no official announcement of a new build. This is largely just wishful thinking by people, and rumor. Microsoft tends to tell people at least a week ahead of time before new builds are coming.

It's important to understand that just because Microsoft demonstrates a build, that doesn't mean it's a build they will release. In fact, it's almost a certainty that it won't be.

Looking forward to it but all is well here.

There will be new builds released, but I wouldn't suspect much (if any) advance notice of them as it's still in development.

MVP Summit is going on now, and this specific question was asked - and they won't even tell us the release date(s).

That is a little silly to show a build to the press that not going to be released.

There was another article (sorry no link) said a consumer preview should be out in January but might be earlier.
