Hi
I use a lot of custom sounds on my computer, they are all saved in .wav format.
Up to this build of Windows 10TP they have worked.
But since updating to version 10049 they don't work anymore.
I can play them from the folder they are in, but if I try and add them to Windows Sounds through the Sounds control panel the icons turn yellow and they won't play.
The regular Widows sounds do work normally.
This may go along with Cortana not talking in this version, and I've found that the Text to Speech function in this version of Windows 10 doesn't function either.
Has anyone else tried to use custom sounds in 10049, and does anyone have Cortana talking it this version?
Also has anyone tried to use the Text to Speech function of this version.
I'll add the my third party text to speech software works fine.
Mike
I realize this is a very old post, but just found it in a Google search. I am having exactly this problem, although with the most recent Windows 10 Pro version. Did you ever find a solution?
Old post, so problem likely solved. Just solved this same problem for myself, so in case anyone finds this thread in a Google search, my problem was that although I had configured my two speakers as "stereo" in Control Panel > Sound, the SoundBlaster Speaker Setup app for my SoundBlaster card was configured as "5.1 surround." As soon as I changed that to "stereo" as well, my audio problems went away. It took a while to figure it out, because the 5.1 surround worked for some things, like most (but not all) online videos.
