I upgraded one of my systems to 10 the other day and ever since it won't stay off, it just turns itself back on every time I shut it down. It was a clean install, not an upgrade. Never had this issue before the upgrade. Hopefully somebody can be of assistance.
Can you check your updates and see if they are installed correctly mine said updates are unable to install and just undue them and every time you do shutdown it will keep trying to install them. reply back if they did not install correctly and ill guide you how to fix this
Updates were fine. Think I found the problem though. Pretty sure it was the fast startup doing it. I disabled it and it's stayed off for about an hour now. Hopefully that's all it was.
Nope, still doing it. Anyone have any other ideas?
Check devices. Make sure your Ethernet or WiFi is not set to wake the computer up.
Hi, I fixed this problem on a friends system yesterday. The "Fast Startup" option was the final part of the solution for his custom build.
Maybe a similar troubleshooting process will work for you too:
- Reboot and enter BIOS
- Check all Power Management settings are correct and save any changes
- Restart Windows
- Disable Fast Startup
- Open your Power Plan Settings and click on Change Advanced Power Settings
- Then go through each device that could be causing your pc to wake and change it accordingly
- Reboot after each change to find the culprit
Good luck!
Hi,
Just wondered if you managed to find a solution to this?
I've just upgraded to Windows 10, and am having the same problem!
Thanks.
That was the solution I posted! I managed to fix the problem for my friend by doing everything listed in my previous post.
Oh...and welcome to the forum
No, I haven't fixed it yet but I haven't taken away wake up permissions from anything but the network adapter yet. I probably won't be fixing it for at least a week because I'm taking off on a trip tomorrow morning.
Did you find a solution to this? I am having the same issue after I upgraded. Really weird.
