I downloaded win10 on this computer. I was told windows vista was removed, nut I found out after I already paid and downnloaded win10 that there still must be some components of win vista still on computer. I am not sure what to do or if I can do anything. Can someone please help me?
Hi and welcome to 10blog.
I don't get it quite right, did you install W10 or you are still on Vista ?
Which components of Vista are you talking about ? I don't think there is a clear path to upgrade from Vista to W10, clean install may be required and that doesn't keep anything from Vista.
I thought I downloaded win10 last night, but now I see windows vista is still on here. I was told it was taken off.
So I am not sure what to do, if I can do anything.
Hmmm, just how did you download 10 ? You might have downloaded it but it doesn't mean it was installed.
It's possible your computer won't run Windows 10. If you tried installing Windows 10 the installer may have determined that your computer is incompatible and rolled back to Vista.
I bought it off their site online and downloaded it directly onto this computer
I have Vista Basic
Downloading Windows 10 is not enough. It must be installed on your computer. There is no direct upgrade path from Vista to Windows 10 so a clean install would be necessary. This would completely remove all of Vista and any applications you have installed. Your data would also be lost so this needs to be backed up before proceeding. You should also be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements of Windows 10. Most but not all computers that run Vista are compatible with Windows 10.
Vista should be upgradable to W7 and it's upgradable to 10.
Ok thank you.
But how do I check to see if I still have windows 10?
I already checked what programs are installed and did not see it.
