Downgrade Question

Hi, Im not sure if this is the correct area for this but, If you downgrade from windows 10 using an ISO will you lose data and if you do is there anyway to keep the data.

You will have to be more specific. Downgrade to what?

That means a clean install of windows, whatever version it may be.

A clean install will format the C drive, so all the user data (in the user folders like Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Picture and Videos) will not be available any more. So it will cause loss of data, for sure.

To avoid the loss of data, you need to move the data elsewhere. It may be
  • Cloud like OneDrive or Google Drive.
  • Any other HDD, internal or external
  • USB drives or DVDs, if the volume of the data is not much more

I would prefer OneDrive. Once it is synced, it is accessible as it is in the computer itself.

There's always a way to keep your data....back it up. It's a good idea to do so, even if you aren't planning any major system changes.

Thank You! I Don't Like Windows 10 because of all the hanging when i open the explorer through a different program to browse through files.. And i'm going to downgrade back to 8.1. Still sucks that i have to backup Everything.

Has it been less than 30 days since you upgraded? If so you can attempt to use the revert option.

Have you tried to get help for the problem you are having?

I agree. That seems like a trivial issue to fix by rolling back the OS. If you did an upgrade install, it's usually a good idea to follow that up with a clean install.

If that is the only reason, a clean installof windows 10 will solve that issue; because it is not universal. All the automatic upgrades are not working at their best all the times.

But if you personally prefer 8.1 over 10 because of functionalities, appearance, or for any other things, you should go with your preferences.

If you ask me, I would suggest you to have a clean install of windows 10, use it for a few days, and then decide.
