V1511 Update cumulative update - still having a problem with Discovery

After the V1511 update exercise on Network Discovery, the fix that MS came out with a few days ago resolved the Discovery problem on 6 of the 7 computers on my home network. Unfortunately, I have one system that is still not recognized. As far as I can tell all the settings on the problem PC are the same as the other 6 systems. Can someone shed some light on what I can do to force the system to make itself visible on my network?

From my observations in analyzing and testing things on my 3 Laptops over several days, there may be a factor related to PC's upgraded to Win 10 from Windows 8.1 or or if they were upgraded from Windows 7. I've noticed over the past few months since Win 10 came out that my 2 originally Win 7 Laptops occasionally get updates that my originally a Win 8.1 Laptop does not. So even though they are all on Win 10 now, there must be some underlying components that were kept when Win 10 first installed which are different.

You may be on to something. The one of seven PC's that I'm still having the Visibility problem on the home network was the only one that I let W10 update from W8.1. That's because it is the main computer and has a bunch of stuff installed along the way. All the others I did a fresh install of W10, I think! Sure would be nice if a MS expert was looking in on this forum and provided a little guidance. Knowing that probably won't happen, I'll wait a week or two and see if the problem gets resolved. If not, I'll pick a rainy day and do a fresh W10 install. I suppose I could delete the network and let W10 rebuild it and see if that helps. That was one of the original suggestions on this forum.

@ Ken - That is interesting indeed!

I tried turning off Windows Firewall (again?) on the problem machine and rebooted. Windows turned the Firewall back on automatically BUT the PC is now visible on the home network! The only thing I can figure is I tried turning off the Firewall before the cumulative update was applied and it did not fix the Discovery problem. Oh well, another mystery solved - at least for now.

This thing has a mind of it's own, Rebooted this morning and the system is no longer visible on the network!!

I had the same problem (click here) with a solution. I'm also running V1511. My problem was with a Samba server, but your situation might be a similar root cause. Although that said, I turned off the Windows Firewall (for keeps) because I already have a router/firewall. So maybe your issue is different in root cause.

I have similar problem. I have corrected issue on most computers, but still having issues on one of them. This computer seems to have a few issues. At first this one could not log on to the Homegroup. I have corrected issue on all computers, however one will not see all network shares. I did notice that on the computers that show all shared networks I am connected to "Network 3". On the one that doesn't, I am connected to "Network". It does show connected to homegroup. I have not been able to locate "Network 3" on that computer.
Another issue on this computer is that I can't install latest Jave update. It says it installed, but when I try to verify, it never show part where it is working. I also get scripting issue on this computer so I assume it is not working properly. Any help will be appreciated.
