I finally decided to give Cortana a shot, but she won't listen to me, and I can't hear anything she says. I googled it and got a few ideas but they don't work for me. Unfortunately the snipping tool won't let me take a snapshot of the cortana settings screen, but I can at least show you my audio/recording devices. I regularly switch between 2-3 different output devices so I don't really want to have to disable any of them. If I can't hear Cortana, I'm hoping at least that she can hear me. I'm hoping someone can help. These are some screens that show what's happening when I click "GET STARTED" to make sure Cortana can hear me;
If anybody has any ideas I would sure appreciate it. Thanks!
Uninstall and reinstall your Blue Snowball
OK. I have tried that before. And I just tried again. Uninstalled. Restarted, Reinstalled/Updated. Restarted again. Same issue.
Uninstall: HD Pro Webcam's Microphone
and try it.
OK. I tried that, uninstalled both the Webcam microphone, then the HD Audio Device. Problem is, it says to complete the uninstall you need to restart the computer. When it re-starts, both devices are reinstalled again.
Hmm I see.
The reason why I asked to uninstall the HD Webcam was to see if your computer is prioritizing your webcam's microphone as the only connected microphone. Yet since you have it disabled, it cannot find it. So tell you what, enable the webcam's microphone, and try out Cortana. Let's see if your computer is only looking at that microphone.
Set the Blue Snowball as default, crank the record level and try the setup again.
(Apparently Cortana doesn't want to play nicelywith Studio quality mics!)
I have same problems with Realtek sound, it works everywhere but with Cortana. No driver or input device changes made any difference.
Thanks Pepanee, but unfortunately that's not working. I've tried disabling and testing each microphone separately with no luck. I haven't tried with the Snowball unplugged, but I don't want to have to operate that way anyhow. The Blue is the mic I'm using for everything. Doesn't sound like it's gonna work unfortunately. Unless someone else has some sweet ideas that work! Haha.. Thanks Pep!
EDIT: After my post I decided to try to unplug the snowball. I actually got farther than ever before, but it's still not recognizing a microphone. It might work if I removed the HD Webcam, but then I don't even have a microphone. LOL
Thanks Edwin, but it won't even recognize the mic to get to this point. The levels were already at max.
