Can't upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro/Ent/Edu

Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade from W10 Home to any other edition, but after it restarted it says "Update failed, reverting".

First time I did this it worked, but then reverted back to home because the key wasn't working or something, and now I'm stuck on home..

My windows 10 is genuine, I have all the keys from MSDN.

Thanks.

Not looking to do a clean install.

Nvm its more like 'We couldn't do the upgrade, undoing changes'

How did it revert back to home, did it do this or did you do this? Why wasn't the key working? I'd just reinstall, using the key for the version you want. I've upgraded from Pro to Enterprise and Pro to Education with just a key, no problem

First time I went back to home because the key wasn't working, because it said Windows isn't activated while I entered my Product key, but later I read that it might take a while to activate.

I've tried upgrading numerous of times with always, just not the first time, the problem that it says upgrading failed.

It said Windows wasn't activated before you entered your key or after? Mine activated after the first reboot after the upgrade. Where did you get your install media? You have a valid MSDN subscription? All my MSDN keys work first time every time. How many times, and how many PC have you used these keys on?

I've used the windows 8.1 to windows 10 upgrade tool from microsoft.
This is the only pc I'm using hte keys on and yes I have a valid MSDN Subscription.
Windows said it wasn't activated after I entered the key.

But I think I heard somewhere you can only upgrade once? So because I've reverted back it wont work anymore.
I might be completely wrong since you claimed to have upgraded multiple times.

The Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 free upgrade gets you a digital entitlement for that version of Windows 10. It sounds like 10 Home in your case. Once you do the free upgrade you can clean install that same version of Windows 10 on that same PC and just skip entering a key. Windows 10 will then activate with the digital entitlement that was stored on the activation server. If your using the latest build 10586, and the PC has an OEM embedded key, it will read an use that key automatically. You still end up with a digital entitlement, you just might not end up with the version of 10 you were expecting. In your case it likely doesn't matter, you'll just get 10 Home if you 8.1 OEM key is a Core key. It's an issue for me though as I get 10 Home but want 10 Pro. I then end up doing a change key to get Pro. I use the generic Pro key though as my PC's have digital entitlements for 10 Pro. They were upgraded from 8.1 Pro originally. They upgrade, reboot then activate. After that I entered an Enterprise key on my laptop as I wanted access to Windows to go. I used my MSDN Enterprise key. Same deal, upgraded, rebooted, and then activated. On my desktop I entered the education key, same deal there, upgraded, rebooted, then activated. You can do it more than once. Your current install must be corrupted and or has an issue. Have you done any tweaks or non standard modifications to it? Like move your user profiles? If you have access to MSDN, why not just download the Enterprise or Education ISO and clean install with that instead of doing an upgrade? I did mine for testing the first time. Now I just clean install Enterprise from the Enterprise ISO.
