Got the 10565 Update but upon restart it does not update ?

Updates are available.
th2_release Professional 10565.
A restart has been scheduled.

Upon restart I am still on 10240 and the update will reappear in Windows Update and tell me to restart again

I am on W10 Pro 10240, not activated but figuring the update would help resolve my activation issues without having to resintall W8.1 again.

How do you restart? To get the upgrade to start you have to restart by clicking the button in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update:

How you restart has nothing to do with the issue.

I've been on the Windows 10 Insider fast track since the beginning and this has been a consistent problem.

Why, I do not understand but it is in no way related to how the machine is restarted.

Absolutely, totally wrong! You should check the facts before posting such nonsense.

The build upgrade will not be donerestarting Windows 10 normally from the Start Menu, from the WIN + X menu, or from the Command Prompt with Shutdown command.

In screenshot below my PC just now, as it has been since Monday when Windows Update downloaded the build 10565 upgrade. I have reasons why I want to delay the upgrade, that's why although I have restarted my PC several times since Monday, I have done it from the Start Menu and not from the Settings app, to avoid from my point of view too early upgrade. To show screenshot is from today you can see me starting to reply to you now, your post quoted in the background.

On another PC I did the upgrade yesterday; it, too had the upgrade downloaded already on Monday but I delayed it and restarted when needed from the Start Menu, and only restarted it from the Settings (Windows Update) yesterday, which immediately started the upgrade.

Thanks for the replies. I went to sleep last night with my restart scheduled by Windows update at 3:30am. I did not check it before leaving for work but when I get home tonight I will. Anyway, probably going to do a clean install of W10 Education. Had issues with responvieness of dialogs, context menus and apps after upgrading Home to Pro.

You can click on that restart radio button until you are blue in the face....the issue has been persistent in 10 for months.... Perhaps you've been caught unaware?

I've also been insider from the day one. I have upgraded several machines, real physical ones and virtual through every build. Always the same: If I want to delay the upgrade, I restart using the Start Menu and let the build upgrade stay there, ready to installed (but not yet). When I am ready to upgrade, I restart from the Windows Update page in Settings. As I mentioned in my previous post, the last time I did this was yesterday. Build 10565 was downloaded and ready to be installed, yesterday two days later the time was right for me and I clicked the button which immediately started the upgrade.

Works every time, I have had no upgrade issues.

Updates seem to have become a major issue for some. We have a stable well running machine that would boot to a black screen on two occasions after updates to the commercial release. My personal PC performs well but often refuses to update. The scheduled reboots at 3:15am do nothing....just like the restart button on the GUI.

Same issue here, except that I am on 10547, upon clicking the restart in the settings menu (which always worked before), it takes me back to PIN screen and I'm on the same version still......any other ideas?

Mine updated overnight at the scheduled restart.
