Laptop was upgraded to windows 10 a week ago.Now I find update security setting is not opening.Requesting for help for fixing the problem thanks
Hello Partha Glad to see you came back!
Last summer when going to upgrade an older model 7 laptop I knew one thing which would be it would soon be seeing a clean install of 10 immediately following the upgrade to 10 from7! At this time however you no longer need to upgrade from the previous version but simply follow the steps in the guide for seeing a clean install bypassing the upgrade entirely! Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First - Windows 10 blog
Following the main build first to see the initial upgrade and later actually intending to keep running 7 bought a 10 license on Black Friday specials to see that solved. Before reviewing the Clean Install guide for 10 II couldn' even get the 10240 July 29th release to take until the warning in the guide itself pointed out the need to "Unplug and non OS drives"! Unlike with 7 where I would often unplug a second OS drive with 10 the boot files and mbr or GPT information will get written on the wrong drive(s) plural in my case! with two storage/backup drives one seeing the boot files and the other the temporary installation folders!
Surprisingly or what it seemed like at the time maybe to reveal bugs later as seen in many cases the second desktop's upgrade went smooth by the numbers and then came the laptop fiascle! Talk about "BUGGY as all..." the upgrade was an immediate mess as I was already expecting would be to see the immediate replacement clean install at the time a 32bit to be later replaced by a second clean install of the 64bit 10 Home there when finding the first clean install was activated. The Start button was missing and forget about even getting into the AllApps with that upgrade!
Are you getting the bigger picture? Too bad you didn't see the first guide there before the mess you have now. A clean install is a definite recommend while you could still opt to see a second upgrade to repair the first as was done here during that first week 10 was out last summer! Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 blog
A clean install of course will insure the better results with the fresh start in the long run unless you a bit too much to replace on at the present time and simply want a quick fixer. But the problem you are having was from the upgrade not seeing everything go on fully as you would normally see with a full fresh clean install starting from scratch.
thanks had an acronis backup and got back the settings thanks
That certainly save the need to use either of the other options! Was that a basic scheduled backup or full system image by chance? With Acronis TI still in use here and still running the 2010 home edition on 10 a full image is a must have!
full system image by acronis 2010 as you mentioned.thanks
You mean you have the 2010 version as well? That's interesting! Aren't glad you did?!
When first getting 10 going here and the need for a newer version of the av software was in need I was also considering the latest for Acronis as well but found the 2010 still went right on and worked. Later someone was complaining that the 2016 was a lot of "bloatware"? Well I would expect a few things were added in the last 5yrs. or so.
Yes still keeping 2010 software I am not happy with newer editions
I haven't actually been taking a serious look at the newer as well as latest Acronis since the 2010 is still working as it always has. That can make things much easier for the two of us I imagine. The av software on the other hand sees a brand new one that will only go far until the next version comes out as I skipped over 8 and 8.1 that is into something three versions newer!
I just hope the next time I have to shop for an imaging software Acronis hasn't become like Symantec System Works was for 98SE! "BLOAT CENTRAL"! Norton has obviously seen some very much needed improvement in the years since while Acronis being a sinking ship doesn't go over well and would be a loss!
