What is windows 10 looking for when it asks this? I click on the notification and it doesn't bring me to a password box.

Is this some sort of bug? It happens to me on multiple computers.

Hello Azucho,

Have you already verified the computer as a trusted device for your Microsoft account?

Microsoft Account - Add or Remove Trusted Devices

I do not see the Verify link so the PC has already been added as a trusted device associated with my Microsoft account. I don't know why it asks me to verify my identity....

In that case, have you changed your Microsoft account password recently?

If so, it could be asking you to re-enter your password to update it in Credential Manager for your account.

If it keeps asking you to enter your most recent password, then do this below to clear the old password from Credential Manager, and add the new one automatically to stop this.

I added a new alias email address to my Microsoft account and now use it to log in. My email address changed due to a new ISP. Perhaps this is the reason for the verification nag?

Anyhow, I followed your instructions, found an entry with my old email address and deleted it. I also deleted the entry with my new address - signed out and signed back in. Hopefully this will solve the problem!

Thanks for your help!

I was just asked again to enter my most recent credential - this time though when I clicked "here" to do it, a password box opened. The password box never appeared previously. Perhaps it is fixed now?? If it comes back again I'll report back here.

Thanks!

Yeah, anything that changes either the password or alias of your Microsoft account would affect and cause this message to verify your account on the PC.

That should take care of if it then.

Very strange how it asked for verification, but the password box didn't appear until I followed your instructions. This appears to be another bug in the software.......

I suppose so. It should of asked for the password to verify.

I'm glad it's sorted for you now though.

Thanks again for your help Brink - all has been well since you helped me straighten things out.
